The Language Unit at the University of Azuay is an academic institution committed to strengthening the language skills of our students and the community at large. Courses are offered in Mandarin, French, Italian, Kichwa, and Portuguese, with a special emphasis on English.
Our goal is to promote foreign language learning as a key tool for comprehensive education, international outreach, and personal and professional development.

Objectives
- Provide students with the opportunity to expand their foreign language skills, thus promoting greater student exchange.
- Get students to level B2 according to the Common European Framework required by law by applying a contextualized methodology.

Placement Test
The exam consists of three parts: listening, reading, and grammar. Any website geared toward preparing for exams like the FCE, PET, IELTS, or TOEFL can provide good practice.

Project Linkage: Teaching English to children in rural schools
The Language Unit, together with Pedagogy students and under the guidance of Master's Degree in Education, Karina Durán, participated in a significant project: virtual English teaching for children in rural schools.
Each class overcame physical distance, connecting realities and hearts. With dedication and creativity, they ensured that learning was experienced with enthusiasm and hope.
Seeing rural students progress and participate joyfully left a profound impression on future teachers. The experience strengthened their skills and reaffirmed their commitment to transformative education, even virtually.
English Holiday Courses 2026
English Vacation Courses 2026 open for registration at the Language Unit of the University of AzuayThe Language Unit of the University of Azuay invites the university community and the general public to participate in the 2026 English Vacation Courses, an opportunity to strengthen communicative skills in the language during the vacation period.
The courses will begin on June 09, 2026 and end on July 06, 2026. Registration will be open from June 01 to 07, 2026 and must be done through the Student Portal.
This academic offering seeks to promote dynamic learning of English through classes focused on developing oral and written comprehension and production skills, in an interactive and participatory environment.

French and German Holiday Courses 2026
The Language Unit of the University of Azuay offers French and German Holiday Courses in 2026The Language Unit of the University of Azuay invites students and the general public to participate in the 2026 French and German Vacation Courses, designed to strengthen linguistic skills and promote the learning of new languages in a dynamic and interactive environment.
The courses will take place from June 09th to July 03rd, 2026. Registration will be open from June 01st to 05th, 2026 and must be done in person at the Language Unit office.
This academic proposal seeks to provide participants with a practical and participatory learning experience, focused on developing communicative skills in foreign languages and strengthening comprehensive training.
